Role
Created the industrial design for Cisco's new TelePresence 47" display product. Worked closely with a mechanical design consulting team, the TelePresence Team, and PM.
An Opportunity to Innovate
Cisco added a new 47” display size to the TelePresence product line. The new industrial design needed to reflect the product line's legacy ribbon and thin profile while expanding and building upon the industrial design language to project a cohesive TelePresence brand image.
The 1300 was the first TelePresence product with free-standing capability and did not require it to be attached to a wall. The need came from the opportunity to bring TelePresence technology to small conference rooms. Being unattached to a permanent wall location provided flexibility to move the 1300 if desired.
The image above shows the 1300 placed in a corner and out of the way.

To prevent tipping over, a wide foot, front and back, was required to provide four contact points. To limit the foot intrusion into the floor space, the center of the foot was removed so a chair could use the space when the 1300 was not being used.
The left image shows a front view of a standard office chair that can fit between the stand when the TelePresence is not used.

Companion Product
Cisco requested a follow-up product to be a display-only companion product. The goal was to leverage the design language from the 1300. The display would be the 47" display.

Success
Cisco's new 47” display size for the TelePresence product line was free-standing. One of the industrial design challenges was the CTS 1300 could be viewed from a variety of positions. The rear of the CTS 1300 had to look as good as the front. Working closely with the mechanical design team, I created details to keep the industrial design theme consistent.
